On Dec. 13 in a match against Hamilton Badin, the Men’s Bowling Team set a new school record for the highest team game in a match. The team rolled 1,035 in the second game led by senior Jason Hinson with a 230, followed by junior Zeb Bolling with a 225, junior Tristan DuMont with a 196, and junior Peter Huffman with a 170 score.
Seniors Kyle Grogan and Hinson will not have another chance to challenge this record as they wrap up their final season with the McNicholas bowling team, currently holding an 8-10 record.
“My proudest moment this year is when we were able to beat the school record twice because we were able to come together, have fun, and get some high scores doing it,” Grogan said. “My coach is even ‘hiring’ me to be his assistant coach next year.”
The Women’s Bowling Team has competed in several tournaments this season and carries an 8-9 record.
Seniors Allison Hickman, Kelsey Overley, Gretchen Semancik, and Ali Quitter will also complete their final season this year.
“My greatest accomplishment this season was the match where I bowled a 399 high series and also bowled a 227, my new high score,” Quitter said.
The bowling seniors will celebrate their senior night on Thursday, Feb. 2 with both teams playing at 3 p.m. against Glen Este High School at Cherry Grove Lanes.
