McNicholas students share favorite sides at Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving around the corner, there are a variety of sides to choose from at the Thanksgiving table. Freshman Jaxson Ciaccio said, “My favorite Thanksgiving food is stuffing. It’s a good comfort food and carb.” According to the Campbell’s Company, stuffing, a simple dish made of dried bread, celery, onion, and sage, is ranked #2 in the U.S. 

Senior Ethan Childs said, “My favorite Thanksgiving food has to be Hawaiian rolls. You get carbs and you add butter to it for a salty taste.” Rolls are ranked #7 in the U.S. according to Campbell’s.  

In the Campbell’s Annual State of the Sides report published every year around Thanksgiving, mashed potatoes are ranked #1, and freshmen Bailey Battin and Nicolas Almeida agreed. Battin said, “My favorite food is mashed potatoes and gravy. It has really good flavor to it. I like the salty taste.” Almeida added, “The potatoes are creamy salty and buttery, and the gravy just adds a savory flavor.” 

Sophomore Lincoln Schisler said his favorite Thanksgiving food is macaroni and cheese. “It’s cheesy and creamy and is a great comfort food.” According to Campbell’s mac and cheese is ranked #3 in the U.S. for Thanksgiving side dishes.  

Freshman Cole Barsczewski said he likes sweet potatoes best. “The sweetness of the potato is a great addition to the turkey,” he said. According to Campbell’s, sweet potatoes are ranked #4 in the U.S.
