As a high school student, it’s difficult to find an inexpensive way to spend Valentine’s Day. From Spiderman valentines to forever roses the McNicholas Milestone has the perfect gift ideas.
Why waste your hard-earned snow shoveling money on a fancy restaurant like Olive Garden, when you can cook a gourmet meal in the comfort of your own home or school cafeteria during lunch? Easy recipes include: microwaving a cup of mac and cheese in a microwave at McNick, purchasing one of the warm cinnamon rolls when the cafe opens each morning, or even a tray of hot chicken nuggets from the “Rocket Cafe” if you’re feeling fancy. The possibilities are endless and to add to the ambiance, you might want to play some fancy Italian restaurant music from your tablet. That is, unless it’s blocked.
Gifts are a major part of Valentine’s Day, but these days jewelry can be expensive so if Kendra Scott and Enewton are not on the budget this year, try something else. Return to your 1st grade art lesson where a little creativity went a long way and try taking this blast from the past and make pasta necklaces or bring out all the bracelet kits you’ve accumulated over the years just gathering dust in your closet or under your bed.
Many say experiences are better than gifts, and when you’re a high school student that seems to be the case. Stargazing is a great way to get outside and to get some brownie points in your science classes. Going on a walk with your pet to get some fresh air will also work.
But most importantly, it’s the thought that counts. Whether you’re spending Valentine’s Day alone or with five friends, there is no better way to say “I love you” to your teachers than doing your homework and handing in that assignment on time.
