McNicholas High School held their annual Rocket Raffle from mid-January through Feb. 7 where students sold raffle tickets for the buyer to try and win the grand prize of a new car, donated by Mount Orab Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram. The grand prize for 2025 was a white Jeep, and the winner of the Jeep was announced at the boys’ varsity game on Feb. 8 where McNick also came away with a victory against Anderson. The winner was Joe Phillips, grandfather of varsity basketball player AJ Gundler.
According to Director of Advancement Tricia Conrad, the student participation in the raffle was 93% and faculty participation was 91%. The goal set for all the students was $197,700, and the students surpassed that by raising nearly $260,000. The top sellers were senior Francie Goff with $5,200, freshman Cort McCord with $4,125, and sophomore Holly Bennet with $2,200. The juniors had a tie for top seller between Josie Fortin and Steven Meltebrink who both sold $1,650 worth of tickets. The top-selling CREWs were Mrs. Noble’s (for total sold) and Mrs. Herndon’s (for total average per student) earning them breakfast in CREW for this accomplishment.
