Rockets top library picks in constant circulation

The McNicholas Library holds a variety of books to accommodate every students’ liking. There are many different genres of books in the library, but the most popular one is the graphic novels. Many of them are found in the library catalog under the tabs ‘What’s new’ and ‘What’s hot.’ These showcase the well-liked books that have been checked out in the last 200 days.

“I will search up popular books of 2025,” sophomore and avid-reader Hailey McPheron said. There are multiple ways to find a book you like, such as reading the summary on the back, looking through reviews, or even searching by topic, title, or author. The McNicholas library shows many popular options with the features the catalog offers.

“I think reading has expanded my vocabulary and helps me with my studies,” McPheron added. Librarian Mrs. Chelsea Almer explained that the library Online Public Access Catalog, OPAC, shows students common books that are often circulating from one student to the next, so that students can find inspiration for their next pick. This can be found on the Library Group Schoology page under the resources tab.

Sora is an online program that allows students to have their book easily accessible on their computer. It is a way for students to be able to have access to different books in an E-book version to read and listen. This has been set in place since Covid, and students have checked out 318 different books. This website can also be found under the resources page on Schoology.

Some of the libraries’ popular authors include Jason Reynolds, Leigh Bardugo, Rick Riordan, and Nick Stone.
