Q: What do you do for McNicholas?
A: I’ve been a part of many clubs, including our St. Vincent DePaul Youth Conference, Ecology Club, and HOPE Squad. I am also the president of our Engineering Club, where we volunteer with a local non-profit, May We Help, to provide services and create tools for those who need it. I also am a FLIGHT Captain, Student Ambassador, 4-year St. Joseph Scholar and member of several Honors Societies. In addition to this, I am a 4-year varsity softball athlete, spending much of my after-school time in the spring out on the diamond.
Q: What does McNicholas mean to you?
A: I am very proud of the work our Engineering Club has done this year; most recently, the club made a bath chair lift for a young girl who had an anoxic brain injury and has cerebral palsy, easing her and her caretakers’ access to the bath. It’s been incredibly special and meaningful to contribute to the local community in such a tangible and life-changing way. I also have a sense of appreciation towards the McNicholas community. As I reflect on my growth since freshman year, I have developed into a stronger leader, student, and athlete – thanks in large part to the support of my teachers and peers.
Q: Where do you plan on attending college and studying?
A: I am attending the University of Cincinnati to study Mechanical Engineering. I’ve always been drawn to STEM fields, but after developing a love of engineering and creating through my time in Engineering Club, I knew I would want to go into engineering. Mechanical engineering, combined with UC’s co-op program, will open a wide range of pathways and opportunities for my future.
Q: Do you plan on continuing your participation in certain activities for McNicholas or other places in the future?
A: I definitely want to continue serving the community through engineering, so I would love to continue to volunteer for May We Help in the future. I also adore the McNick community and will be back to visit, whether it be for my little brother, alumni events, or anything else that may draw me back.
