With the graduating season creeping up, many seniors are finalizing their college decision. With so many academic and athletic choices, this can be quite a grueling process but worth it in the end.
“Cincinnati is a city that offers amazing social scenes to meet new friends, build connections, and find internships in a major city area,” senior Francie Goff said. Goff will be attending UC for the DAAP program.
Whether deciding to stay close for family or for a major, there are numerous ways to grow socially and academically being a short distance from home. “You are getting a degree no matter what, [so] choose somewhere that will feel like home, and offers you the best opportunity for growth. Don’t base your decisions off what other people do,” Goff added.
Approximately half of the students in the Class of 2025 are choosing to stay local for college and trade school. Many students tend to stay local for school because of the various number of possibilities they have. “Students should consider all opportunities that are available to them after high school,” counselor Erica Stablum said.
“Go where your heart is telling you even if people don’t understand or agree with you,” senior Maddie Martinez, who will be attending Ohio University, said.
“Pick the one that feels right to you, be open, and don’t choose a school because of what other classmates are choosing,” senior Hayden Minnich said, who will be attending Walsh University.
“Don’t rush the process, have fun with it and just make the best decision possible for you, it’s okay if you don’t know right away,” said senior Billy Meltebrink who will be attending Mount Saint Joseph University.
Whether choosing a college close by or far away, there is a school out there for everyone. This decision can be a tough one, but it is important to put happiness as a priority for the next four years.
