From Twizzlers to Almond Joys, students share Halloween candy likes and dislikes

By Lauren Korchok

As Halloween approaches on a Friday this year, students prepare to stock up on sweets. Halloween night is all about candy, being on a sugar rush, ready to count all the candy collected during the night.

Sorting and piling candy into categories, always having that pile in solitude that no one wants. From chocolates (like the non-Hershey types) to sour sweets, these candies are what get left in the pile of despair.

In a recent survey, McNick students shared their opinions on what they thought was the worst Halloween candy. The type of candy that most students did not like was Almond Joy. Junior Ronni Nance had a different opinion, though, and said, “Twizzlers [are the worst] because they are too sweet which makes them gross.”

Most students said that they would trade candy after trick-or-treating when they were younger, but the ways of doing so varied.  Dumping out all the candy and categorizing the types was the most common. Senior Bri Lach said likes to “empty out our buckets and pick what we wanted [from each other].”

Another way students have spent their Halloween was trading candy for candy. Junior Garrett Ray said, “If you had something I liked, then I would trade the candy for something you like.”
