Rocket Raffle aims for highest goal in five years

The annual Rocket Raffle fundraiser had its kickoff Friday, Jan. 16 that included the announcement of this year’s grand prize: a 2025 Ford Bronco. This fundraiser was launched five years ago as a way to accumulate funds for tuition assistance to allow more students to experience a McNicholas education without worrying about the cost of tuition. This year’s goal is $209,400 and will conclude on Feb 5. The winner will be chosen during halftime of the men’s varsity basketball game on Feb. 6.

“It’s always fun to win, so if you can’t win the grand prize you can sell along the way and it helps the school, but you’re also earning things for yourself,” Director of Advancement Mrs. Tricia Conrad said.

Throughout the fundraiser, a new car is not the only prize. Students are given different incentives to earn as little bonuses to keep going. These incentives are earned as the fundraiser continues and is a way to boost students to want to sell more. There are already listed incentives that students are aware of, but there are also pop-up ones that will continue to release as the fundraiser continues.

These smaller prizes include:

  • Individual Goal: $300
  • Sell $300: Earn McDonald’s/Dunkin’ Breakfast
  • Sell $350: Earn Out of Uniform
  • Sell $500: Chick-Fil-A
  • Sell $650: Lunch at BW3’s
  • Sell $2,500: Earn a $100 gift card

As the school continues in the fifth year of this tradition, it is a way to reflect on how far McNick has come with the fundraiser. If the students, faculty, and staff stretch the goal and raise $282,275, that would make $1 million raised over the five years.

One ticket costs $25 and each student’s goal is to sell $300 of tickets to achieve the school goal as a whole. To purchase a ticket, click here. After clicking purchase a ticket, there is a choice to fundraise for a specific student or for the campaign in general. As of Wednesday, Jan. 28 the school has fundraised $142,250, and each day students and faculty grow closer to reaching the goal.
