Chicken nuggets take top spot in the McNicholas Cafe

By Alex Minella

In a recent Milestone survey, forty students at McNicholas High School ranked their favorite cafe lunches, with chicken nuggets taking the top spot.

Cafe manager Ms. Tanya Gorden said, “Cooking is an art; it is something that comes natural.” She also explained that quality ingredients are important when preparing meals for students. “I don’t like to serve anything that comes from a can,” she said.

Gorden said some of the most popular items that students ask for are “buffalo chicken styled dishes like buffalo chicken dip and buffalo chicken mac and cheese.”

In the Milestone survey, students ranked the top five entrees they like the best:

  1. Chicken nuggets
  1. Buffalo chicken mac and cheese
  1. Mozzarella sticks
  1. Burgers
  1. Pasta dishes

Freshman Max Mills said, “They taste like restaurant style food, unlike most cafeterias,” while senior Ava Hudson said her favorite entree was buffalo chicken mac and cheese because it “tastes the best and has the best quantity for the entree being five dollars.” Freshman Kennidi Blair, who likes the cheese sticks best, said, “they always come out hot and fresh.”

With new entrees continuing to appear in the cafe, students have more options when choosing what to eat during lunch.
