Spirit Club to help McNicholas show its Christmas spirit

Spirit Club has many fun events planned to get students excited about the holidays, including lunchtime activities, candy cane grams, and pictures with Klonne Clause.

To start off the Christmas extravaganza, Spirit Club will be judging the Christmas door decorating contest.  Check back later for results. Students and fans are then encouraged to wear their best holiday outfits to the men’s varsity basketball game against Roger Bacon on Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

From Dec. 19-21, there will be Christmas activities during both lunches. On Monday, students can volunteer to play “Pin the Nose on the Rudolph” and on Tuesday can “Wrap a Rocket,” based on the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” when the Grinch wrapped Cindy Lou Who in wrapping paper. Wednesday students can pay $0.50 (subject to change) to decorate a Christmas cookie.

On top of all of these activities at lunch, some Spirit Club members will be selling candy cane grams in the back of the cafeteria until Tuesday, Dec. 20. For $0.25, students can send a note and a candy cane to a friend. On Wednesday, Dec. 21, the candy cane grams will be distributed.

Also on Monday, Klonne Claus will return to both lunches. Health teacher Mr. Steve Klonne will dress up as Santa Claus and be available to take pictures with students for $1. There will be a discounted group rate as well.

“We decided to go all out for Christmas this year because we really wanted to capture the Christmas spirit…and bring that spirit to McNick,” Spirit Club co-president Leah Bartel said.
