Since McNick and Roger Bacon are in the same GCL conference, this game affected both of their standings. As of Jan. 30, 2017, Roger Bacon was ranked first in the GCL Coed South Conference, and McNick was ranked third.
The Rockets’ top scorer in the game was junior Ryan Riedy with 11 points, 4 assists, and 1 rebound. Junior Cole Burdick came in a close second with 10 total points scored, 3 assists and 4 rebounds. For the Spartans, senior Craig McGee was the top scorer with 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Throughout the whole game, the Rockets were down a couple points from the Spartans. With less than 5 minutes left in the first half, senior Nathan Brunot hopped over Spartan defenders to score 2 more points for the Rockets. His efforts were not enough to bring the score up to lead, as the score was 23-34 at half time.
With 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the Rockets were still down. Burdick scored a 3-pointer that brought the intensity of the game back up. For the next few minutes, the Rockets tried desperately to bring the score to at least a tie, but they fell short. The final score was 45-56 Spartans.
