Dear Rockets,
The first bell of the year sounded and the roar of stampeding students followed. This means that classes are again in session and the 2017-2018 school year has officially begun. While some Rocket High students may be anxious or uneasy about the upcoming year, I expect this year to be an exciting year of change and development for McNicholas High School.
As students settle into their daily schedules, The Milestone staff also returns to examining today’s controversial topics and delivering the most accurate news to the McNick community. As Editor-in-Chief, I would like to introduce the 2017-2018 McNicholas Milstone staff reporters: seniors Trey Ackel, Isabella Daley, Maggie Deller, Faith Miller, and Abbey Pour. Ackel will depart the staff for second semester, but seniors Erica Gumbert and Gracie Rudolph and sophomore Rachel Jeffries will join. There are still positions open on the Milestone staff, and interested students should speak to their school counselor or Milestone adviser Angie Noble in room 5.
The Milestone is inviting guest journalists this year. Students who want to write an article or have an article idea they would like to co-author, please reach out to myself or Mrs. Noble. The Milestone reserves the right to edit any article for length or concerns regarding journalistic ethics, as well as refuse publishing any article at its discretion.
The Milestone works to inform and communicate with the McNick student body and faculty/staff (news by the students, for the students), so please send any story ideas, questions, comments, concerns, or criticisms to myself, Noble, or reach out to us on twitter (@McNickMilestone).
Sincerely,
Nicholas Wynn
The McNicholas Milestone Editor-in-Chief
