Women’s Basketball optimistic for season

The McNicholas Women’s Basketball Team had their first home game Saturday, Nov. 23 against Milford. Despite losing their opening game, the team is optimistic for the season.

Senior Lydia Geygan said, “We lost a lot of seniors last year, so it should be fun to reinvent our own new version of who the team can be.”

Since the season started in late October, head coach Gregg Flammer has been working to prepare the team for the season. “We have worked hard in practice and scrimmages, led by our seniors Tara Rammel, Lydia Geygan, and Maddie Kouche, to form the bond and feeling of family that we must have to have a successful season,” Flammer said.

The team has ten remaining home games, and senior Maddie Kouche is most excited for the game against Badin on January 20. “We have such a huge rivalry with them- it’s always a really interesting game,” Kouche said.

The team’s next game is November 25 at home against Mariemont High School. Geygan encourages “everyone to come out if you can!”

Seniors Maddie Kouche, Lydia Geygan, and Tara Rammel are all looking forward to their final season playing basketball as Rockets. “Maddie, Tara and I have all played basketball together on and off since fourth grade so I’m really excited to finish off my basketball career with them at my side,” Geygan said.
