How to: Setting up Microsoft Teams for online instruction

Starting Wednesday 18, 2020, McNicholas will be transitioning into online classes as a result of the recent COVID-19  outbreak. Classes will be held using Microsoft Teams, a communication and collaboration service that allows for group chats, video conferences, and online meetings. To set up Microsoft Teams and join classes, follow these steps:

Step One:

Open your Outlook 365 email and click on the dots in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Clicking on this will show a series of Microsoft apps for your tablet.

Step Two:

Click the purplish-blue app called “Teams.” It is the last icon in the second row in the following picture. This will take you to Microsoft Teams.

Step Three:

Once Microsoft Teams has opened, there will have a task bar on the left hand side of the screen. Click on the third icon down that says “Teams.” This is where individual classes can be monitored.

Step Four:

After clicking on the “Teams” tab, there will be a button in the top right hand corner of the screen. Press the button to join classes.

Step Five:

Teachers will provide an activation code either on Schoology or through email to be entered in the space that reads, “Enter Code.” After entering the designated code from a specific class, you will be added to your virtual classroom.
