The Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of their annual awards, with two of the recipients being Rockets. SAIL teacher Val Combs was named Educator of the Year and Senior Ellie Rudolph was named Student of the Year.

“I feel very honored that I received this [award] and [was] nominated by my teachers.” Rudolph said. “My favorite thing about McNick is definitely the people. I have met my best friends here and my most influential role models. My dreams and ideas have always been supported by my peers, faculty, and staff! [McNick] has also taught me how to love and be loved, which is my most important lesson I’ve learned. Being a student at McNick is the greatest blessing. I’ve been mentored and taught by the best while being surrounded by the most beautiful people. I have also grown my faith exponentially through my years which is such a great feeling,” Rudolph added.

During her time at McNick, Rudolph has been involved in National Honor Society, Science NHS, Student Council, Student Ambassadors, Cooking Club, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Lacrosse, Kairos retreat, Appalachia retreat, Hair and Makeup for a play, Spirit Club, Spirit committee, Hope Squad, and has been a junior retreat leader.

Rudolph will be attending The University of Alabama Honors College this fall where she will major in Biology with a minor in Women’s Leadership. Rudolph added that “McNick has holistically prepared me. I have grown emotionally, spiritually, and academically in exponential volumes. [McNick] is home to me. I’ve learned to believe in myself, work with others, and that my ideas are important. I’ve learned to work hard, but ask for help when I need it. I’ve become the best version of myself while creating everlasting friendships.”
