The future can be a daunting, especially for those aren’t sure exactly where they want to go and what they want to do after high school. Instead of focusing on the immediate future, the Milestone decided to inquire about where many see themselves ten years out of high school.
“In the next 10 years, I hope to honestly just be employed. I would like to be at least practicing psychology somewhere, but I don’t have huge career goals. I’m just taking it one step at a time. [In 10 years] I hope to be married and maybe even have my first kid or expecting one. I will definitely own a dog though,” Riley Ruehlmann said.
“I just want to be successful in my career. I don’t know exactly where I’m going to end up, the majors I am taking [Creative Writing and Film and Media Studies] allow me to find a career in really anything I could ever wish, so I just want to find a job and be successful,” Paula Zalar said.
“In ten years I hope to have worked my way up at an interior design or architecture firm. I refuse to work for someone other than myself for my whole life. The purpose of working at a firm would simply be to gain experience and connections to open my own firm one day,” Hadley Jerome said.
“I used to want to be a teacher, and now I want to go into PreMed, my dream career is to be a OBGYN. I hope to be married and starting my family and I’m not sure where I want to live, but I would be open to [living] everywhere,” Maggie Haap said.
“I hope to be working in the sports industry, hopefully for the Reds because I want to stay here in Cincinnati. I never knew what I wanted to do until recently. I also hope to be married with a kid or two,” Nate Tenkman said.
“I hope to be a detective for law enforcement. Then maybe down the line work my way up into working for CIA or FBI. I wanted to be a famous football player, but as I got older I had a reality hit and decided I liked something else. When I’m older I hope to be living down in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I just hope to have made a name for myself when I am older,” Aarron Martin said.
“I hope to be working at a hospital with children. My dream when I was young was to take over my mom’s business, a veterinarian’s office, but I found my passion with health care. I’m not really sure where I want to live, I just want to see where my career takes me,” Aimee Gauger said.
“I hope to be on my way towards doing something I love with science, whether that be genetics, becoming a vet, pharmacist, or an anesthesiologist, I’m not quite sure yet. I’m not sure where I want to live, it depends on where my family will be and where I find myself to be the most successful,” Elizabeth Granlund said.
“I hope to have a steady, successful career in the realm of law. I hope to be close with my own family, but I don’t know about starting my own family. At the age of 28 I think I’d be more focused on my career than starting a family. I wouldn’t be opposed to staying in Ohio but I would like to get away even if it is just for a little bit. I would love to live in Europe for a few years,” Nick Clark said.
The McNick Class of 2021 all have bright futures ahead of them. Even though most will go their separate ways after their days at McNick conclude, one thing remains the same for the class of 2021: They will always remain Rockets.
