Teacher Feature: Ms. Beatty

Ms. Amanda Beatty is a Theology teacher at McNicholas High School. She has been teaching at McNichols for three years, one year student teaching and two years full time teaching. She previously taught religion at an elementary school before coming to McNicholas. 

Currently, Beatty teaches Church History and Morality for sophomores. Last year she taught freshmen.  Beatty states, “Currently, we are talking about the Renaissance and Reformation in Church History. In Morality, we are talking about moral decisions that have to do with the Church.” 

She first went to college at Cottie College in Nivata, Missouri and received an Associative Arts degree there. After receiving her degree, she went to Dominican University in Chicago to finish her bachelor’s degree. Beatty then went to graduate school at Mount St. Joesph here in Cincinnati. Currently she is working towards her degree in History at Indiana University. 

Some of her hobbies include her own schoolwork, sleeping, listening to audio books, and collecting library cards from different places. Beatty states, “I had library cards from Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and other places as well. It’s just a funny thing that I like to do.” 

Beatty has also started going to fundraiser dinners to support many different causes and charities. States Beatty, “I like supporting the different events and fundraisers for various causes, in the last month alone I have gone to 8 different dinners and galas.” 

Sha also has two sisters, although she is the middle child, she is still close to both of her sisters. Beatty states, “I talk to my younger sister often. My older sister I keep in contact because of our family connection.” 

Ms. Beatty is leaving McNicholas next year, although she will be missed by the students, Beatty is happy with her decision. Beatty states “I have to do what’s best for me, but I’m going to miss everyone here. I have prayed about this and I felt that this is the way that God is nudging me towards.“
