On Saturday, Oct.13, McNicholas High School seniors Kimberly Andrew and Todd Gula were crowned Homecoming Queen and King during the halftime show of the varsity football game when the McNicholas Rockets faced the Roger Bacon Spartans. The Rockets beat the Spartans 38-12 in McNicholas’ own Penn Station Stadium. During the week leading up to Homecoming, students celebrated Spirit Week by participating in dress-up days, a pep rally, and the annual Walk Day. For the first part of the week, students dressed up for Pajama Day, Western Day, and Wacky Day. On Friday, Oct. 12, students were dressed to exercise as they walked over seven miles through Mt. Washington to raise money for McNick.
The theme for the 2012 Homecoming was “Wired,” and members of the Homecoming Court entertained students at the pep rally, dressed up as various video game characters. Each grade decorated their homecoming floats according to their class themes: seniors were Mario Kart, juniors were Angry Birds, sophomores were Temple Run, and freshmen were Donkey Kong. During halftime of the football game, The Class of 2013 celebrated the victory of their “Rainbow Road” Mario Kart themed float.
