In celebration of both March Madness and Cincinnati schools, Fox 19 has pitted high schools against each other in a competition to see who has the most school spirit. Each school in the greater Cincinnati area is a team in the March Madness formatted bracket, which is organized into four major sections – North, South, East, and West. The McNicholas High School Rockets have advanced to the Sweet 16 after defeating the Deer Park Wildcats on March 5 and the Moeller Crusaders on March 12. McNicholas will face the St. Ursula Bulldogs on Monday and Tuesday, March 17 and 18 from 8 a.m. Monday through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.
On “game days,” schools compete by tweeting using the hashtag #19HShysteria or posting on Fox 19’s wall on Facebook using the same hashtag. Only original posts are counted, and the school must be mentioned somewhere in the post. If a school tweets or posts about their school more than the school it is against that week, it advances to the next round.
The winner of the entire bracket wins a pep rally thrown by Fox 19. “Everyone who’s associated with McNick needs to tweet how we have spirit. It would great for all of us if we won the all-school pep rally. Our students and faculty definitely deserve it,” Director of Communications Angie Noble said.
