Rocket freshman take a “fresh” new step

The freshmen at McNick just experienced their first retreat as a Rocket at the annual Freshman Day of Renewal. The retreat allows freshmen to spend the day in small groups, and many expressed that they had high expectations going into the event.

“I was thinking it was going to be a way that we can connect more with God,” freshman Brett Liming said.

The freshmen not only had the opportunity to connect with God, but they had time to connect with themselves, their peers, and even some senior mentors.

“I liked being around the friendly seniors and listening to their stories,” freshman Nick Keith said.

The freshman stated that they not only grew closer to God, but they learned valuable lessons that they will be able to hold on to for the rest of their lives.

“One thing that I learned was that you need to work hard to accomplish what you want to do in your life. Even if you know you are already what you want to be you can always make it better if you just work harder. I also learned that it is best to only look forward in what you’re going to do and not look into the past and try to fix the past. All you can do is take a ‘fresh’ step into the future,” Liming said.
