McNicholas is hosting a baby diaper and clothing drive through Dec. 15.
Tracey Canisalez, Spanish teacher and moderator of the Rockets for Life Club, said, “We need diapers of any size and baby clothes [up to size 6x] that are gently used or new.” All donations go to A Caring Place pregnancy help center which collects clothes, diapers, formula, and more year round.
A Caring Place helps “mothers and fathers [and] people who are in crisis with pregnancy,” Canisalez said. They help by giving free ultrasounds and parenting classes, and assisting people with trauma from having an abortion.
Rockets for Life Club President senior Jordan McCormick said, “We’re supporting a Catholic ideal.”
Club member Junior Vinny Ramundo added, “Not only are we talking about our ideals, but we’re walking the walk…. It does a lot to help parents after they’re parents.”
By donating, McCormick said, “It allows us as high schools to get involved, too.”
The parents who will receive the donations are “in desperate need of help,” Canisalez said.
Students can turn in their donations at the drop off table outside of room 309 in the convent.
“We know there are families in need and it would be good to help them get through difficult situations,” Canisalez said.
