Tim Monahan, head coach of the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team, said they want to build from last year’s success and go farther in the tournament at the end of the season. They’re anticipating their toughest opponent to be Huntington Prep, and their goal is to be a good team and to have the players to believe in themselves.
Monahan said, “The team interactions and bonding are the best things about coaching and also to achieve on the court.” Monahan added that he is “excited to build upon last year’s team and try to win state.”
Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach John Blackwell said they “have a really good mix of girls experienced and new, and that they will be working really hard.” The women’s team hopes to improve as a team as the year goes. The women’s team goal is to get better and play the best game every game. Senior Grace Cuntz says, “Our goal is to get over .500 and win most of our games especially against Badin.” Cuntz also predicts that they will do a lot better than last year. “Playing basketball at McNick has always been a fun environment for me” Grace Cuntz says.
