Teacher Feature: Mrs. Jessica Mueller

Mrs. Jessica Mueller is one of the passionate teachers at McNicholas High School. Mueller joined the science department at the start of this year. She teaches four biology classes and one chemistry class. Mueller received her biology and education degree from the University of Dayton.

Before coming to McNick Mueller taught biology and chemistry classes online and in two different high schools. In the last school years, “I taught at Catholic Central for four years,” Mueller states. She had previously taught either only biology or only chemistry but is excited to have the opportunity to teach both subjects at the same time.

Chemistry and biology have labs about every other week to help the students learn the material with hands on learning. “They are definitely lab-based classes,” Mueller states about her current classes at McNicholas.

Biology just finished with a macromolecule lab and chemistry just finished their flame test lab using Bunsen burners. “So far the flame test has been my favorite,” Mueller states.

Outside of the lab, Mueller enjoys to bake with her two children and reads lots of different books, mostly historical fiction. “I like baking and reading any genre,” Mueller states.

Her family also enjoys classics of Cincinnati life. “We love going to Red’s games in the summer,” Mueller states. Her family spends lots of time together and are excited to add a new member to the memories.

“We are excited and not finding out the gender,” Mueller states. Her two children are currently 5 years old and 3 years old and are both excited to meet her third child who is due in February. Mueller is eager to continue her first year here at McNicholas in the coming months.
