McNick takes a dive into prom 2026

As prom season approaches, McNick students and faculty and staff are getting ready to celebrate the night on April 25 at Norlyn Manor. This year’s theme is “Where the Sea Meets the Stars.”

Prom doors open at 6 p.m. and close no later than 11 p.m. Students will have a provided mandatory dinner, included in the ticket cost, upon their arrival followed by many activities throughout the night.

Administrative Assistant to the Principal and prom committee chair Ms. Jenni Tumser said, “[Students] typically go in bigger groups, but that makes it hard in restaurants for everybody to be in the same reservation, and I didn’t want [anyone] to worry about that or for anyone to be left out.” For dinner, each table can fit up to ten people and as students are purchasing tickets, they are able to request up to four people with whom they would like to be seated.

Some of the planned activities this year include LED putt putt, a snow cone truck, and ticket giveaways with prizes such as a Ninja Creami.

Unlike Homecoming and Mardi Gras, prom court is strictly based on teacher vote, and it includes ten males and ten females of the senior class.

2026 Men of the Court: Gary Collins, Ryan Dorr, Brady Edwards, Zarius Harvey, Zayden Harvey, Caleb Link, Steven Meltebrink, Fletcher Pyles, Louis Smith, Soloman Snyder, Nicholas Speigla, and Aidan Walsh.

2026 Women of the Court: Julia Bayer, Lauren Beiser, Josephine Fortin, Grace McCafferty, Kathryn Moran, Delaney Rains, Addison Reineke, Ellen Robey, Emma Rosenbaum, Whitley Sway, Kennedy Trapp, and Annemarie Wolfer.

The king and queen are announced shortly after dinner once all the court is recognized. After the court is acknowledged, they will start a dance to begin the rest of the night.

The prom committee starts planning the following year’s prom the day after the last one. This way venues can be booked ahead, and there is plenty of time to plan for a packed night of entertainment. “We want you to leave her with a really special memory before you walk out the door,” Tumser said.
