On March 31 and April 1, McNicholas High School hosted the Coaches Classic Track Invitational, with over 20 Division II and III schools. McNicholas’ Women’s Team placed second, with the men’s team taking fourth, five places higher than their ninth place finish in 2014.

A few men’s events stood out to head coach Kyle Jepson.

“[Senior] Will Allgeier set a personal best in shot put, winning the event and is now just 2.5 feet away from the school record. The men’s 4×200 team took first, and [junior] Blaise Harpring placed second in the high jump.” Jepson said.

Jepson highlighted performances by senior Michelle Hollenkamp, who placed second in pole vault, sophomore Morgan Vogler, who scored in four different events, and junior Emily Tekulve, who placed third in long jump.
This was the third season that McNicholas hosted The Coaches Classic, the largest Division II and III Track event in the city. According to Jepson, the school benefits from hosting the meet each year.

“It’s a great chance to showcase our great facilities to the other schools in the city,” Jepson said.
