Cinnamon rolls take top spot in McNicholas Café

At McNicholas High School, breakfast is a hot commodity; the cafe opens at 7 a.m. for students who arrive early and need to grab a bite to eat before class.

In a recent survey by The McNicholas Milestone, the majority of the 80 students who responded declared the cinnamon rolls as their favorite breakfast item at McNicholas.

Senior Katie Noble goes to the café during her F bell study hall, and she said she loves the sausage burrito. “It’s really good and satisfies my craving for food. It fills you up,” Noble said. Freshman McKenna Farmer also said the bacon burrito is “delicious,” and also enjoys having Fruit Loops with milk as a second option. Freshman Kameron Horgan simply described the cinnamon roll as “amazing.”

Café manager Tonya Gorden mentioned, “We try to make it interesting,” and shared that they bake approximately 10 cinnamon rolls each morning. Since they make only 10 a day, students rush to the cafe as soon as they arrive to get that cinnamon roll.

Despite the cinnamon roll being the top choice, the café offers a wide variety of breakfast items, ranging from burritos to muffins, ensuring there is something for everyone.
